RANDY RAMEY ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE 45TH DISTRICT

Updated: Nov 8, 2019

Carol Stream, IL --- Carol Stream resident, former State Representative (District 55) and Wayne Township Supervisor Randy Ramey, a conservative Republican, announced his candidacy today for Illinois State Representative in District 45. Ramey is running for the seat currently held by Democrat, Diane Pappas.

“After much consideration, prayer and conversation with family and friends, I have decided to enter the race to serve the people of the 45th District. The focus of our campaign will be on the future of Illinois. However, in order to move forward, I must address the past. I believe in always being honest and direct with people. I want the people of the 45th District to hear this directly from me. As many people are aware, over eight years ago, I was pulled over for driving under the influence of alcohol. I am as much ashamed and humiliated today as I was eight years ago for what I did and said that night. I made a serious mistake for which there is no excuse, and I deeply apologize for it. I let my family and friends down, most notably, my three children, who are my life. They are driving now and will soon be twenty-one. I have meticulously educated them on the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence.”

Ramey has worked hard to earn back the trust and respect of the community, and in 2017, after an astounding level of local encouragement, he ran for Wayne Township Supervisor and won with over 60% of the vote. In his new role, Ramey sat down with residents and the employees to identify the most pressing needs facing the township; the list was considerable. Determined, he went straight to work. He completely renovated and expanded the Wayne Township Food Pantry and General Services, renovated and expanded the Township Senior Center, installed new illuminated signage, and repaired and resurfaced the township parking lot. Through his leadership, all these projects were completed on time and under budget. “This was a tremendous accomplishment for the township,” Ramey said. “It is easy for governments to just raise taxes to pay for projects. That was not an option for us. We were going to get this accomplished without burdening the taxpayers.” Funding for all these projects was secured through a combination of federal, state, and local grants, private funding, and intergovernmental agreements.

Today, the people have asked Ramey to step up again to run for State Representative and fight for them in Springfield. “I believe Illinois’ best days are ahead of us. It is imperative that we work together to fight for taxpayers, support job creation, foster economic growth, and restore faith in Illinois,” Ramey continued. “I know the other side will try to make this a single-issue campaign, focusing solely on the past. This does not help the families of the 45th district, or Illinois. During the campaign and in Springfield my focus will be on issues important to them: stopping the growth of government, ending the unbridled spending and to support business’ in job creation.”

Throughout his career, Ramey has earned a strong reputation for his determination and delivering on behalf of his constituents. “In my eight years in Springfield and my ten years in local government I have been successful in bringing people together across the political spectrum to accomplish common sense reforms. Whenever the community has reached out, I have always worked to get them the help they needed,” Ramey said. This has earned him the support from local mayors in the district, as well as the support from Wayne Township, Bloomingdale Township, and Addison Township Republican Organizations (The Addison Township Republican Organization officially endorsed him in October). Ramey continued, “I appreciate the encouragement and support from the community, the mayors and the Republican Organizations in the 45th District. It is time for the people to take their government back. We need strong leadership to get our state moving forward, and I intend on being one of those leaders. I will work hard for the people of the 45th District and be part of the solution for a stronger Illinois.”

Illinois House District 45 is in the western suburbs of Chicago and encompasses all and/or parts of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, Wayne, West Chicago and Wood Dale.
